The Executive Chairman

 

 

Hyacinth EKuma Ikpor was born on 1st November, 1946 to the family of late paul inyang of ezi onuu, amangballa village, Afikpo. The Quest for western education took him to ST. Mark’s primary school, new site, AFIKPO, St Enda’s secondary school, iboko, university of nigeria, nsukka, and fordham university, New york, USA.

The fruits of his education exploits are FSLC (1958) WASC (1965) B.SC HONs Mathematics (1975), M.A Mathematics/Computer (1979)

Job Experience

H.E as is fondly called by colleagues and close associates served Kaduna state government as education Officer from 1976-1977.

As a post graduate student, he was also employed as a part time lecturer at Fordham University 1977-1979. On return from USA, H.E was employed by Kaduna polytechnic as lecturer 2 and he rose to the rank of a senior lecturer in 1982 and won the election as president of academic staff union of polytechnic, ASUP in 1981. When Akanu Ibiam federal polytechnic was established, H.E decided to return home, and was employed by Akanu Ibiam Federal polytechnic as a senior lecturer and Head of department of Mathematics and Related Sciences (1982-1983).

Political Experience

Because of his ambition to serve humanity on a wider scale, H.E quit academics and joined politics where he made an indelible impression in the following areas:

1985-1995    Secretary to Elder Dr. Akanu Ibiam (Grand patron, Ebonyi state movement)

1990-1990   Chairman Gubernatorial screening committee of SDP, Imo state.

1990-1991   Imo state Deputy Chairman of SDP

1991-1993   Abia state Chairman of SDP

1995-1996 Abia state chairman of SDP

1996-1996 Abia state chairman of UNCP    

1996-1998   Ebonyi state chairman of UNCP

2003-2005   Ebonyi state chairman of NDP

2005-2013   Member, founding fathers council, Ebonyi state.

2007             Member, PDP screening committee for local government elections

2008-2009   Permanent member 3, Ebonyi SUBEB

2009-2011   Effective commissioner for education, Ebonyi state

2009-2011   Member Governing Council, Ebonyi state University

2011-2014   Vibrant commissioner for culture and tourism, Eboni state.

2015-Date   Executive Chairman, Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board.

Travelling Experience

There is a saying that travelling is part of education. H.E has travelled to all Nigerian states. He has in addition been to several countries including the United Kingdom, the United States of America, France, Switzerland, and Canada.

Marital Status

H.E is married to his amiable wife, Chief Mrs. Henrietta Uzoma Ikpor (LKSJ) who is a member of the state executive of PDP in Ebonyi. The union is blessed with four children.
